Connected lighting is the future of lighting industry, said Philips Lighting at its annual VAP (Value Added partner) Summit that took place in Madrid on September 27-29. The Summit focused upon industry innovations and prototypes, developed by Philips Lighting units and subsidiary companies, and most of all upon lighting industry forecasts, customer expectations and opportunities. Some of the best and most impressive projects for 2017 were also introduced; such as: the Master Plan for Historical Downtown – Guadalajara, Mexico (Best public project award) and 19th Century Cairo Beautification – Cairo, Egypt (People’s choice).
Only 2% of lighting worldwide could be considered as connected lighting, Philips Lighting says. The first step is already made as smarts systems like Philips Dynalite, Philips Green parking, street lighting system Philips City Touch and even the home system Philips Hue are implemented in a huge number of projects. But as latest technologies offer remote monitoring and control, the future ones are aiming to monitor the environment and provide information for customer behaviour, efficiency and more, together with lighting quality and quantity figures. This goal leads to new and specialized software development that will offer more customized approach.
Madrid Summit also announced a pilot program about connected lighting for offices that would be implemented in three project chosen. It should be completed in the next six months. The results will support the new trend development where lighting and IT industries meets even more.
Philips Lighting VAP partners are companies that offer more than products and solutions. The offer specialized and customized services, lighting design, etc. For two years Bronlight has been part of the VAP family and participates in these summits.
